First, round 3 summary:
In the East:
New Jersey (6) beats NY rangers (1) in 6. Lundqvist is good but Marty is the best and since the Rangers can’t score and New Jersey has been able to light the lamp pretty often, I say New Jersey takes it and Marty gets one last chance to lift that cup.
CORRECT Called it!!!
In the West:
LA (8) beats Phoenix (3) in 7. This one absolutely comes down to goaltending the way Smith has been playing. However, I’ll take Quick over Smith any day and to win this series you’re gonna have to score tough goals to win, I think LA edges out Phoenix in that ability.
CORRECT LA did it even quicker

Stanley Cup Final:
LA (8) beats New Jersey (6) in 6. As much as I would love to see Marty go out on top, it just isn’t going to happen. Quick didn’t play well against Phoenix towards the end of the series, yet LA still one. However, New Jersey has managed to pull out win after win even though Marty isn’t the same Marty of old. This series will come down to who can control the play.

First, round 2 summary:
In the East:
Washington Capitals (7) beat NY Rangers (1) in 6. Ovi will get it going against the best and if the Rangers offence doesn’t get going they’re in a lot of trouble.
WRONG So close. New York is getting pretty lucky if you ask me. Their goaltending hasn’t been consistent and they can’t score.
Philly (5) beats New Jersey (6) in 5. If Philly loses they still have goaltending issues.
WRONG Do I get points for getting the number of games right? Philly has goaltending issues.
In the West:
LA(8) beats St. Louis (2) in 6. Will be a hard fought series but I think LA will is better offensively.
CORRECT Wow! Didn’t see a sweep happening. Taking out the #1 and #2 seeds, LA maybe the unlikely team to make it to the stanley cup final.
Nashville (4) beats Phoenix (3) in 7. Two words, Pekka Rinne. He will be the difference maker.
WRONG So Wrong. Wrong two words. Mike Smith was the difference maker. Maybe Rinne’s not that good after all. A lot of “weak” goals against in this series.

In the East:

The Rangers (1) will dominate Ottawa (8) in 4 games with ease.
CORRECT But boy was I wrong about the Rangers dominating the Sens.
Boston (2) will battle to beat the Washington Capitals (7) in 7 games to start their road to repeat with a challenge.
WRONG So close… but so far.
New Jersey (6) will beat FLA (3) in 7 low scoring games. Brodeur will help NJ make one last playoff run before he calls it a career.
CORRECT Low scoring games? Nope. But I called it… That was a close one Marty.
Philly (5) will beat the Pens (4) in 7 games. Will hands down be the best first round series.
CORRECT Best of the first round? That was an over statement. This series was nothing like it should have been.
In the west:
LA(8) upsets Vancouver (1) in 5 games. Sorry, but Luongo just isn’t that good. So overratted.
CORRECT Called it to a tee!
St. Louis (2) beats San Jose (7) in 7 games. St. Louis has enough veterans to get past the fading Sharks.
CORRECT St. Louis did it even quicker than I thought.
Chicago (6) beats Phoenix (3) in 5 games. Phoenix is just no match for the fire power Chicago has.
WRONG Phoenix manages to quiet the guns of Chicago.
This was the best series of the first round. How many games were decided by overtime?
Nashville (4) beats Detroit (5) in 7 games. This series will come down to goaltending and Nashville wins out easily as Detroit is simply getting too old. However, Detroit will make it interesting.
CORRECT Nope, didn’t even come close to making this interesting at all. Detroit surely isn’t the team we’ve seen over the last few years anymore. First team eliminated from the 2011 playoffs. Detroit needs to retool with some young guys and a goalie. Howard is good, don’t get me wrong, but not in the same league as goalies they have had in the past.
